Each of the Blood, Frost, and Unholy Shards has a unique power of this sort, so if you collect all three of one of the Rune Words from the Shards, you will have three unique Shard powers and can use Stygian Embers to upgrade their rank. Each rank increases that percentage, with Rank 5 giving you 3% damage increase. One example would be the Blood Shard Bek, which grants you a 1.5% damage increase when your health is 50% above that of your target. Shards of Domination have a variety of effects - each can be powered up to Rank 5, and each grants unique and increasing powers as you rank them up.

With 10 bosses and at least 5 named trash mobs in the raid, this means you can expect to earn around 40 Embers for a full Heroic clear, or ~25 if you only clear normal. Shards of Domination Gem Sockets and Set Bonuses Presumably this accounts for LFR difficulty as well, which would mean that each boss actually drops 1 ember per difficulty, though it would seem that named trash mobs only drop them on Normal difficulty and above - this allows players to skip lower difficulties without missing out on the total number of embers earned. Likewise, first defeating a named trash mob on Heroic will award two embers, whereas defeating it on Normal and then Heroic will award one each. This means killing a Heroic boss without having killed it first on Normal will award all three embers, the same as if you defeated it on Normal before Heroic. Like Cendre d’âme from Torghast, Souvenirs corrompus from Ny'alotha, and Reliquaire aqueux from the Eternal Palace though, embers will automatically be awarded for all lower difficulties.

Each Sanctum of Domination boss drops embers, as will named mobs such as Borr-Gahn, Carcacier, and Hurlepique located throughout the instance. While players can earn 10 per week by completing Forger le destin, those who enter the raid will be able to accumulate many more. These Braise stygienne are a new raid related currency used in varying amounts to increase the power of Shards of Domination. Although some players were previously concerned that skipping the Korthia introductory quests would cause them to miss out on 10 of the embers, clearing the Sanctum of Domination awards more than four times as many each week. With the release of Sanctum of Domination, players are finding Braise stygienne much more available, with each raid boss and several named trash mobs dropping them on each difficulty.
